There’s no fool like an April fool

"It is amusing to note the attempts at April Fools humour in today’s media.
Particular highlights include Sarkozy’s bullet proof umbrella, the Boris Bike scheme being extended to boats on the Thames, Kate Middleton’s hen party pictures in the Daily Mail, the development of 3D radio, and Labour party bunting being prepared for street parties to celebrate Ed Miliband’s wedding.
The fun even spread to LinkedIn where I was offered the chance to connect to Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood and Albert Einstein - all of whom would be welcome additions to my professional network.
In the midst of media coverage of the Libyan crisis, and the ongoing impact of the spending cuts, some light hearted material can provide a welcome contrast.
Perhaps the Blackpool police force may beg to differ however, as reports of the mini earthquake there this afternoon were initially treated as a hoax. Perhaps even April Fools banter can go too far."
